It is with absolute delight that Mel Chambers of Alchemy Tiles accepted the prestigious SME Southern Enterprise Award for Best Hand-Crafted Tile Company 2023 for her fourth consecutive year!!
Despite an extremely tough year, in so many ways, she is extremely proud to accept this accolade for extensive expertise and skills, a dedication to customer service and client satisfaction and an on-going commitment to excellence and innovation.
Mel says "I am deeply humbled and blessed to win such an amazing acknowledgement after what has been one my hardest business years yet. I am indebted to all those have supported my work at Engine House Media, the Made in Cornwall Scheme and Shop Cornish, but most importantly it is with heartfelt thanks and gratitude to my absolutely amazing customers. I simply couldn't do this without you!".
In order to meet the demand of her clients Mel expanded her skill set by training as a professional tiler and now installs as well as creates her stunning tiles. She will also be developing her skills further in 2024 to include plastering too.
With her passion for transforming places, particularly ones that are awkward to work with, into places of beauty and reflection, her reputation is growing continuously.

As 2023 comes to a close Mel has lots in store for 2024 and her multiple new ideas and concepts will be launched throughout the year so watch this space for exciting times ahead!
The infamous annual solo exhibition of Mel Chambers has been a time honoured tradition for over 10 years and takes place in her home village of Port Navas.
Although renowned for her Alchemy Tiles, Mel is also a sculptress and painter and this is the only time you'll get to see all her work under one roof.
Each year takes on a new theme and installation and this year's theme is Take Flight!
The celebration of all things winged and those that defy gravity in all their forms. From the mystical to the magical, spread your wings and take flight!

I am ecstatic to be able to tell you that Alchemy Tiles has been announced winner of the Southern Enterprise Awards for “best hand-crafted tile company” for the second year in a row.
It is such an honour to be awarded this accolade again after a tough couple of years for everyone working in the creative sector. The pandemic meant many creatives had to make some big changes to the way they work, and I have been no exception.
It was with very unexpected but absolute delight that I was awarded winner of the Made in Cornwall Member of the Year 2021!!!
I've been a proud member of the Made In Cornwall Scheme since 2016 which involves a rigorous examination by Trading Standards to ensure my creations are authentically Cornish from start to finish
After celebrating a truly powerful International Women's Day the energy naturally flows into Mothers Day and the theme of honouring continues. As Mother Earth begins to emerge from her winter slumber we begin to feel her energy rising in the sap and the feeling of Spring around us.
As the earths fertility begins to blossom we give thanks to the beautiful mothers in our lives who nurture and care for us and love us unconditionally in their own magical way.
For some of us this time can be difficult as we remember the wonderful mothers and grandmothers we have lost and how we crave to be held in their embrace just one more time. So let their love shine on in you and share what you loved about them most.
