Why Wedding Keepsakes Matter More Than Ever

Why Wedding Keepsakes Matter More Than Ever

There’s something deeply meaningful about creating an object that remains long after the flowers have faded and the day itself has passed.

Weddings move so quickly.
Months, sometimes years, of planning become a blur of moments, emotions, music, laughter and fleeting conversations.

And yet certain objects quietly hold the memory.

A name carefully carved by hand.
A date captured forever in clay.
A symbol that carries lineage, heritage, love, or place.

These are the pieces people return to years later.

Not because they are extravagant…
but because they hold feeling.

Over the years I’ve created wedding keepsakes ranging from tiny personalised favours for guests, to heirloom trivets and wall pieces carrying poems, vows, family symbols, locations and meaningful imagery.

Some are playful and joyful.
Some deeply romantic.
Others become almost like family artefacts, passed forward into future generations.

What I love most is that no two stories are ever the same.

One couple may choose entwining seahorses inspired by the Cornish sea where they met.
Another may weave Welsh lineage into a carved love spoon design.
Others hide names within the ears of hares, or dates within flowing calligraphy only they truly recognise.

Each piece becomes a quiet vessel for memory.

In a world increasingly filled with disposable things, I think people are longing for objects with soul again.
Objects made slowly.
Objects made with care.
Objects that truly mean something.

And perhaps that is what weddings are really about too.

Not perfection.
Not performance.

But connection, story, memory and love.

If you’re planning a wedding, anniversary, or meaningful celebration and would like to explore a bespoke keepsake, I’d love to hear your ideas.

Honour Thy Mother - Mothers Day

Honour Thy Mother

After celebrating a truly powerful International Women's Day the energy naturally flows into Mothers Day and the theme of honouring continues. As Mother Earth begins to emerge from her winter slumber we begin to feel her energy rising in the sap and the feeling of Spring around us.

As the earths fertility begins to blossom we give thanks to the beautiful mothers in our lives who nurture and care for us and love us unconditionally in their own magical way.

For some of us this time can be difficult as we remember the wonderful mothers and grandmothers we have lost and how we crave to be held in their embrace just one more time. So let their love shine on in you and share what you loved about them most.

Alchemy Tiles Southern Enterprise Award 2020

Southern Enterprise Award 2020

Alchemy Tiles: proud winner of the SME Southern Enterprise Awards for extensive expertise and skills, dedication to customer service and client satisfaction with an on-going commitment to excellence and innovation. It was with absolute delight and deep humility that I received the Best Hand Crafted Tile Company Award 2020. All new businesses take time to get off the ground, especially when you're a soul trader, but this award really gave me huge confirmation that all the dedicated hours and hard work were paying off, especially during a time when the world was dealing with so much adversity with COVID.

To be recognised on a national level for something I am deeply passionate about, from the creation to the end customer, was indeed a feather in my cap. Keeping this ancient tradition and craft alive and taking it to new heights is what gets me out of bed in the mornings and creating beautiful pieces and bespoke interiors is what makes my heart sing.

So thank you, one and all, who have supported my work, my journey, my craft, my passion. Without you it would not be possible and I am only spurred on to create to even higher levels of wonder.

Welcome to Alchemy Tiles

Hand carved from the heart...

Welcome the new website for Alchemy Tiles! I'm really excited to be sharing my work with you and hope you find something inspiring among these pages. As my work has developed over the last 8 years it has reached a point where Alchemy Tiles needed its own space and the new website is designed not only to showcase my work but also to make it easier for online purchases as we move into a highly digital age.

As all bar two of my shows were cancelled this year and as more and more people are now buying online due to COVID, it made sense to upgrade and make the experience more user friendly. I am still getting used to the new platform so please bear with me and if you have any feedback I'd be genuinely grateful for it.
